Healthy Communities Breastfeed!

The Breastfeeding Coalition of Washington (BCW) is a statewide network of hundreds of individuals and over 20 local community coalitions and partner organizations. Our mission is to promote, protect, and support breastfeeding as vital to the health of our communities.

We work to increase initiation, duration and exclusivity rates of breastfeeding/chestfeeding through promotion projects, education and resource sharing with the larger aim of establishing human milk feeding as the cultural norm in Washington. Our vision is that Washington state champions breastfeeding as the foundation for lifelong health and wellness. We strive to eliminate all breastfeeding barriers, and to ensure all Washington families have equitable access to lactation support and resources. Our work influences parents and families, communities, organizations, and the larger sociocultural environment, all of which impact breastfeeding.
